'The Goonies' house in Astoria, Oregon sells for $1 65 million to fan

Several of the iconic sites around Clatsop County can be reached by car or on foot, including some of the characters’ homes. Another sign simply reads, "no cars." Until now, the home had been closed to the public in 2015 which of course did not set well with many long-time followers of the classic film. The house, which is in a residential neighborhood in the coastal Oregon city of Astoria, has attracted fans of the movie for years.

Listing agent Jordan Miller of John L. Scott Market Center told us the sale has not yet closed but the buyer will be made public next week ... So it will be interesting to see who snapped it up, because our sources say offers were coming in from all corners of the globe. Zakeri identifies himself as "an 80s kid" and "avid collector" who loves pop culture from the said decade, according to "The Goonies" house press release. The cinematic home, located in Astoria, Oregon, was originally listed in November 2022 by Jordan Miller, a licensed real estate broker with John L. Scott, a West Coast-based real estate agent and management company.

Also a fun bonus - the elementary school that's nearby was used in Kindergarten Cop! We left $20 in the donation box and parked in the boat launch lot next to the Comfort Suites. Parking at the boat launch is $10 for the day and we left our parking ticket in the machine for the next person.

The famed beach scene in the movie was filmed at Indian Beach which is located in Ecola State Park, Cannon Beach in the state of Oregon. The same picturesque beach was also used to shoot scenes for Twilight and Point Break. Our real estate sources say owner, Sandi Preston, accepted an offer Friday for the Oregon estate ... Which went on the market just 5 days ago with a $1,650,000 asking price.

Since “The Goonies” premiered, fans have flocked to the northwestern Oregon home to celebrate the film. Zakeri was among those who have visited the Victorian multiple times. He said he had his eyes set on the home long before the deal closed in December. But she lived in the house and the constant crowds were a strain that prompted her at times to close it to foot traffic. Since the movie came to theaters in 1985, fans have flocked to the home in northwestern Oregon's historic port of Astoria.

You can also visit the working riverfront of East End Marina, which is where Stef caught her crab. Sloth was played by John Matuszak who was a former football defensive lineman in the NFL. He then retired from the sport in 1981 and began to pursue acting. He starred in both movies and in TV shows and his first ever role was where he played O.W.

After the 30th anniversary of the film brought as many as 1,500 visitors a day to the house, the owner temporarily covered the house in tarps and posted “no trespassing” signs prohibiting tourists from walking up to the property. The city of Astoria also imposed strict fines for parking in "no parking" areas in the neighborhood because of the amount of tourist traffic. The Goonies house is instantly recognizable to avid fans, with its whitewash panels and panoramic veranda.

Hit the link here to read about more iconic spots that were filmed in the classic film. Josh Brolin (the one and only James Brolin’s son), who is known for roles in hit movies such as 21 Jump Street, Avengers, Deadpool and Guardians of the Galaxy did indeed have a role in The Goonies. For Josh, The Goonies was one of his very first major roles as an actor, and he took on the character at the young age of 17 years old.

In-N-Out Burger Eyes Vancouver for Its Second Washington Drive-Thru

Built in 1896, the two-story Victorian home features white wood siding trimmed in rust, as well as a wraparound porch with a covered deck and panoramic views of the same gorgeous Pacific Northwest coastline showcased in the movie. The second scene is when the Goonies stop on their bikes when searching for the start of the treasure map. This scene is from along the Indian Beach trail through Ecola State Park. Signs at the end of the driveway to discourage trespassing were ignored and fans fretted when the front of the house, which had water leaks, was obscured by tarps in 2015.

First, the state park has an iconic coastal view that is shown in the movie where the Goonies pull their bikes up the bluff while searching for the start of the treasure hunt. The exterior of Mouth’s house is briefly shown the car chase as well. Not much happens here, as Mouth is inside helping his dad with the sink. The house is located on the corner of Skyline Avenue and Valley Street in Astoria and still looks similar to this day.

She then closed the doors to the house built in 1896 except during Goonies Day tours, organized to celebrate the movie’s anniversary. The Goonies House, better known as Mikey's house, is one of the most popular attractions in Astoria. Now, the so-called ‘Goonies’ house has a new owner, a super fan named Behman Zakeri,  who lives near Kansas City. He says he bought the house to make sure that the public still has some kind of access to it.

Make sure to check out the other things to do in Astoria while you search for all the locations! We hope you have as much fun exploring the Goonies filming locations as we did, just try not to truffle shuffle too much! It’s also possible to visit most of the locations on a day trip from Portland. I mean, it was bought as an investment, but I didn’t buy it to keep it to myself. I bought it to share it with the world, as long as ‘Goonies’ are respectful.

"I’m thrilled to join the Astoria community and be a part of the enduring legacy of ‘The Goonies,’" Zakeri said, in a statement. "Ever since I saw the movie in the summer of 1985, I have been a huge fan." Since I was a kid, but I got serious about buying it when we visited the Goonies House for the 30th anniversary celebration in Astoria in June of 2015. For now, though, Zakeri’s focus lies on making this Astoria house a dream come true for all his fellow Goonies. WW spoke to him about his plans for the property, including his hopes for a Goonies sequel or series.

Ecola State Park is home to several Goonies filming locations that visitors will instantly recognise from the movie. Zakeri is an entrepreneur from Kansas City with multiple businesses which have ranged from an axe-throwing facility to an escape room. He’s been a Goonie fanatic since he was a kid and dreamt of owning the iconic Astoria house from the 1985 film, ‘The Goonies.’ Now, he can pay homage to his favorite film and continue the Goonies’ legacy. Residents of the hilltop neighborhood who complained about people showing up day and night tried to thwart the throngs of fans of the feel-good movie about friendships. Most of the visitors were respectful, she said, but sometimes souvenir seekers pulled off pieces of the wallpaper near the bunk beds.

Miller told FOX Business the "ideal buyer" for the property would be someone who loves the home as much as the seller, and it appears Zakeri was the right person for the home. The buyer of the Oregon home from "The Goonies" has been revealed, now that the property’s sale has closed. I will be doing everything in my power to push for either a Goonies sequel or a series (similar to what they did with the Cobra Kai series and the Karate Kid movies). I have to believe that if they do either, the Goonies House will play a big role in the sequel or the series. It’s definitely a challenge, but we have so much support from friends, family and neighbors that we will manage well.

Zakeri’s offer for "The Goonies" house reportedly beat out multiple bidders and was accepted six days after the property was listed, according to the home’s press release. Zakeri told FOX Business that fans and production companies will be able to rent the home for extended stays that are "31 days or more," according to the city’s moratorium on short-term vacation rentals. After being closed to the public in 2015, the iconic Goonies House in Astoria has reopened to visitors, ending a yearslong standoff between movie buffs and the home’s owner.

Official Site of Goodspeed Musicals

goodspeed opera house

Like this past season, there will be four musicals, one of them Christmas-themed. Two of the shows are well-known musical theater classics, one is a popular show from more recent times and the fourth is a brand new show having its world premiere. The Goodspeed campus will continue to serve as a thriving artist colony where the creative process informs the work on our stages and expanding educational programs. We aspire to serve as a safe haven where a singular commitment to discovery and innovation will enrich the field with the next generation of musical theatre artists.

South Pacific

The Arts Education Collaboration provides art-education programs for underserved Connecticut youth. The Festival of New Musicals features students from the Hartt School and the Boston Conservatory performing staged readings of three brand new musicals, industry-related seminars, a symposium and cabaret performances. Each winter, Goodspeed also hosts the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Grove that invites musical theatre writing teams to retreat from daily life for a four week residency and concentrate solely on writing new musicals. In addition, Goodspeed serves as a resource for the preservation of the art form through our Scherer Library of Musical Theatre, the second most extensive musical theatre research library in the United States. The first day, March 17, will feature a staged reading of Madeline Myers' musical Double Helix, which explores the life and struggles of scientist Rosalind Franklin, whose contributions to the discovery of DNA's structure were looked over by her male colleagues following her premature death.

Paramount Global CEO Bob Bakish expected to leave the company

One story told around Goodspeed is that while loading in the scenery for Annie's original pre-Broadway run, a strong gust of wind took a large piece of scenery out of the hands of the loaders and blew it into the Connecticut River. Get our big stories about Hollywood, film, television, music, arts, culture and more right in your inbox as soon as they publish. Unless film or TV jobs interfere, Taylor and Bologna plan to appear in the production as the mother and father of characters they played in the movie.

Goodspeed Musicals’ mission is to share the joy ofmusical theatre; to delight, inspire, and challenge audiences; to nurturecreators; and to build and support a broad, diverse, and inclusive community. The theater itself is actually located on the top two floors of the building, making for interesting and sometimes difficult scenery and show load-ins. Scenery is loaded-in from the dock area up a vacant elevator shaft that is now outfitted with a winch system to haul the scenery up to the stage level. Much care has to be taken in order to get the scenery up the shaft without scratching or ruining the scenery.

goodspeed opera house

In our history, we have produced over 250 musicals, including over 70 world premieres, and exported 21 productions to Broadway. Goodspeed stands as the first regional theatre in America to earn two special Tony Awards, one in 1980 for outstanding contributions to the American musical and a second in 1995 for distinguished achievement for a regional theatre. "The Festival is a key part of Goodspeed’s new works development program and we invite all musical theatre fans to join us." Doing just three musicals per season at the Opera House, each running for two months or more, has been the standard for most of the theater’s 60-year history. But under Donna Lynn Hilton, who became the theater’s artistic director during the COVID shutdown, once the Goodspeed Opera House was able to do full seasons again there have been four-show seasons. The season begins with “The Mystery of Edwin Drood” from April 5 through June 2.

The second show in the season is Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “South Pacific,” which was scheduled for the 2020 season (with the sets already being constructed and rehearsals about to begin), then again for 2021 but was continually postponed due to COVID. The director at that point was Ruggiero, but now “South Pacific” (which contains the songs “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair” and “One Enchanted Evening”) has been entrusted to Chay Yew. Please allow extra time when coming to the theatre, especially for matinees. Producer April Shenandoah said she hopes to open around Valentine’s Day, in keeping with the “lovers” theme, and rotate celebrities in and out of various roles in the play, a la “Love Letters,” during an open-ended run.

The Goodspeed Opera House, under the direction of Michael P. Price, is dedicated to the preservation of the heritage of the American musical and the development of new works. Still, L.A.’s big new musicals, “Grand Hotel” and “City of Angels,” weren’t doing as well. The former grossed only about one-third of its potential that week, while the latter grossed only about one-half of its potential. A collection of four one-acts by Renee Taylor and Joseph Bologna, “Lovers” played briefly on Broadway in 1968, but it became best known from the movie version released in 1970.

Play Broadway Games

The musical is based on an unfinished mystery novel by Charles Dickens. The show’s creator Rupert Holmes had fun with the “unfinished” concept by writing several different possible endings. The Goodspeed production will be directed by Rob Ruggiero, a frequent director there who is also the producing artistic director of TheaterWorks Hartford. Goodspeed’s beginnings date back to 1963 when we opened our doors as a professional musical theatre in an historic  building on the banks of the Connecticut River in East Haddam.

The Opera House was originally built by a local merchant and banker, William Henry Goodspeed. Despite the name, it was not in fact an opera house, but rather a venue for presenting plays. After William Goodspeed's death in 1882, the opera house fell into disrepair, facing a series of less glamorous uses—from a militia base during World War I to a general store and a Department of Transportation storage facility.

The 2024 Goodspeed season ends Nov. 1 through Dec. 29 with the holiday show “A Christmas Story, The Musical.” The show has been around since 2009 and is based on the 1983 movie (based in turn on a short story by humorist Jean Shepherd) about a boy who wants a BB rifle for Christmas. The music and lyrics are by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who later became famous for the Broadway hit “Dear Evan Hansen” and the movie “The Greatest Showman.” Paul grew up in Fairfield County, where he still lives. He served as artistic director of the Victory Gardens Theater in Chicago from 2011 to 2020. A noteworthy absence from the list of directors is Jenn Thompson, who has directed six shows at the Goodspeed Opera House since 2016, including “Gypsy” this year. Ruggiero has directed a dozen shows previously at the venue, but “Drood” will be the first show he’s done there since “A Grand Night for Singing,” the Rodgers & Hammerstein revue that was the first show in the Opera House after COVID in 2021. The three day festival spotlights new works through seminars, cabarets, staged readings, and more.

The new theater might represent one of the most substantial infusions of Hollywood money into Los Angeles theater. The building’s owner, Harmony Gold USA, a television miniseries production and distribution company, could spend as much as $2.2 million converting Preview House into a real theater. The owner of the former Preview House, at Sunset Boulevard and Stanley Avenue, plans to convert the facility--best known as a place where test audiences register their reactions to new commercials and pilots--into a 400-seat “legit” theater. Join us for this never-before-seen holiday show at The Goodspeed! Filled with humor, song and dance, it's bound to be a family event you'll remember for years to come. Watch as the cast of A Complicated Woman at Goodspeed Musicals discusses the show!

Under the direction of Michael Price from 1968 to 2014, Goodspeed transformed from a struggling entity into a non-profit arts organization with a mission. At first, Goodspeed’s commitment was to discover rarely produced musicals from the repertoire, reworking them and bringing them to life. We were also intent on adding to the repertoire by discovering and nurturing promising new musicals presented at both the Opera House and the Norma Terris Theatre in neighboring Chester. The Goodspeed Opera House has announced its 2024 season, which will run from May to December.

Over the past 61 years,Goodspeed has sent 21 shows to Broadway, launched 85 world premieres, anddelighted more than 5.3 million patrons. Our dedication to supporting new workand fostering voices at the forefront of the industry is a key part of ourmission. From our commissioning program, GoodWorks, to world premieres and allthe steps in-between, our commitment to the development of new musicals is oneof the strongest in the nation. One use foreseen for the theater would be as a different kind of preview house. “Our focus would be to use it as a tool to develop projects for film and TV,” said Robert Norton, Harmony Gold’s executive vice president of legal and business affairs, adding that stage productions are a “relatively inexpensive” way to test film and TV ideas.

Get ready to swing back in time as Ivoryton Playhouse has announced the upcoming production of Swingtime Canteen, the second show in its 2024 season. The Goodspeed Opera House was built in 1876 on the Connecticut River in East Haddam, Connecticut. Since it was restored and reopened in 1963, three musicals ave been produced each season, both revivals and new works. At its nearby Norma Terris Theatre, a unique season of four new musicals is presented each year.

The guided tours will be offered free, though reservations are required in advance through the Tournament of Roses website. Eighty slots are available for each tour, which will last for about and hour and a half to two hours, led by volunteer docents at 2 p.m. Starting on Thursday, May 2, the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association will offer guided tours of the Tournament House, which was once owned by William Wrigley Jr. and wife, Ada. Wrigley’s fortune was made as a chewing gum industrialist back in the late 1800s.

Our 3D virtual tours offer such an immersive experience that only the most serious buyers visit our listings in person. The pandemic and the supercharged housing market that followed drove rapid adoption of tech tools that have fundamentally changed the way people buy and sell. With more virtual tours on Zillow listings than ever before, it's easier to explore and picture life in a home. Shoppers can evaluate homes from the comfort of their couch — assessing condition, validating details, layout, size and orientation — to make the most of their time. Or they can relive an in-person tour without traveling for a second visit.

You’ll upload your photos to that platform for storing, editing, and sharing. Data shows that virtual tours drive sales, says Amir Frank, a content manager at Matterport in Sunnyvale, Calif. Matterport studied MLS transaction data from the South, Southwest, Northwest, and Midwest from November 2016 to November 2019. The results showed listings with a 3D tour sold for up to 9% more and closed up to 31% faster than listings without them.

And, if you don’t feel like moving yourself through the home, you can press play for a video walkthrough of the listing. In fact, it’s better because within a matter of minutes, you can take virtual walking tours of dozens of incredible home designs. Matterport’s detailed scanning and photography process can take a couple of hours to finish uploading.

Use any compatible camera, from your phone to our flagship Pro3, to capture your space in 3D. Alternatively, have one of our Capture Services technicians do it for you. Gain valuable property insights to optimize facility management, streamline capital planning, and decrease vacancy. Ensure brand consistency and optimize layouts and merchandising across locations to improve ROI. When selecting dollhouse view, you’ll be able to see a zoomed-out perspective of the home. You can rotate the 3D model around to view it from any perspective.

These interactive 3D walkthrough home tours, powered by Matterport’s virtual tour technology, lets buyers virtually glide from room to room, all on their own. Now you can see every nook and cranny, measure the height of windows or any other dimensions within the home, as if you were there in person -- no realtor needed. This guide will help you better understand how a 3D walkthrough works and how you can use it to make your virtual home buying or home selling experience easier. The critical difference between a virtual house tour and a 3D house plan lies in their purpose and presentation. A virtual tour offers a realistic, interactive view of an existing property, helping viewers visualize the space as it is. In contrast, a 3D house plan provides a structural and spatial representation of a property, highlighting its architectural design and layout.

There are hundreds of 360-degree tour providers and hosting platforms, including Matterport, Ricoh360 Tours, Ogulo, Immoviewer, Box Brownie, Giraffe360, and EyeSpy360, says Schravemade. Editing tools on many of the platforms will stitch your images together for a seamless tour experience. Whatever 360-degree camera you use, you’ll also have to download a smartphone app or invest in a hosting platform for your tours.

The COVID-19 economy has pumped up consumer demand for virtual home tours. These presentations, created using 360-degree and 3D tour technology, provide an immersive experience for viewing homes while limiting in-person contact. Typically, the Matterport 3D scan will take place on the same day that your listing photos are taken. Since your home has already been staged and prepped, and your Redfin agent and/or real estate photographer is already there, it’s conveniently completed then. The scan itself usually takes less than an hour, depending on the size of your home.

Once the scans of the whole house have been taken, they’re uploaded to Matterport to process all of the scans. Matterport, a 3D virtual tour software, accurately captures your home through its powerful yet easy-to-use technology. Matterport’s Capture app connects to any Matterport-compatible camera to scan your home and create an accurate 3D version for the 3D walkthrough home tours. You can virtually tour an entire home, checking out the views from the balcony to the storage space in each closet, all from the comfort and convenience of your couch. You can even measure the size of the patio to start browsing for outdoor furniture.

Or combine all three to create pockets of light throughout your restaurant for an elegant effect. Vintage table lamps with fabric shades can be bought at local antique stores and markets. Alternatively, consider placing one large communal table at the center of the restaurant and smaller tables along the walls. While the food you serve is the most important element in your restaurant’s success, the importance of well-chosen restaurant decor is not to be underestimated. You may use linen napkins as a budget alternative to a full linen service. Paper tablecloths are another option that makes a fantastic coloring surface for children to play on when awaiting dinner.

The actual permits can be a low-cost item on a budget (Jimmy estimates less than $5,000), but getting those approved can add substantially to the overall restaurant renovation cost. Guga outfitted Kismet with walls of poplar streaked with green due to a defect called cucumbering. The green eventually fades to brown over many years, allowing the interior to grow and change alongside the culinary program. It’s the sort of detail that designers elsewhere miss when they choose generic light wood to fit a California caricature.

Keep things as simple as possible at Low Budget small restaurant design

California-style restaurants can help or hurt that effort, not only in the ways they represent California in their food, but by how they present it in their dining rooms. Soon the trend spread beyond the state’s borders and across the internet. Pastel tableware mirrors sun-bleached SoCal but also acts as a neutral backdrop for Instagram food pics.

How to make my small restaurant look more expensive?

A heavier fabric will harmonize with darker furniture, while a lighter, gauzy curtain will work if your restaurant is light and bright. Murals and wall art are memorable and one-of-a-kind works of art; you will not need to pay much for one. Discard and replace any chairs that wobble and/or creak, as diners tend to dislike them. If you really want to experiment with a large mirror, dedicate one wall for it and ensure that the wall doesn’t have any tables beside it. However, in a restaurant, a few well-positioned medium-sized mirrors typically work better than floor-to-ceiling ones that can be distracting for diners and difficult to clean. The easiest way to achieve this is by lining the perimeter of your restaurant with booths or tables, then placing the remaining tables inside a square space in the center of your restaurant.

Your restaurant needs nothing more than a “wow” factor to catch your guest’s attention as soon as they walk in the door. If you have a small budget, a great low budget restaurant design may seem like a complex and expensive task for your business. But don’t worry; we’ve put together low budget restaurant design ideas that work well. Designing a small restaurant comes with its set of challenges, but limited space and funds do not have to restrict the establishment’s style and appeal. With creativity and strategic planning, you can maximize the impact of your restaurant’s design on a budget.

In some cases, restaurants that already had outdoor dining areas were fixed up so they could be used all year long in all four seasons. Your restaurant’s ambiance is what your customers encounter first — not the taste of the food. So no matter how delicious your dishes are, customers need to feel invited, comfortable, and excited to spend time in your space.

A quality website in the eyes of search engines and customers is essential for any restaurant type, particularly a low cost small restaurant. It helps improve your potential customers’ awareness of your brand and display your restaurant food items. One of the pro tips is plugging One2’s contactless menu into your existing website to have an always-up-to-date, beautiful menu and website in no time. This clarity will guide your decisions and ensure that every element contributes to the overall experience you want to offer. A strong concept is the cornerstone of any low cost low budget small restaurant design, as it allows for a focused and cohesive approach. Creating a welcoming and aesthetically pleasing environment in a small restaurant doesn’t require a hefty budget. Instead, it calls for innovative thinking and a strategic approach to design. Here’s how you can cook up an impressive low cost low budget small restaurant design. Please pay attention to your table settings, which can significantly impact the dining experience.

low budget small restaurant design

As a small restaurant may feel cluttered, you should leverage every square inch. Think about a design that features some smaller tables instead of large ones. Colors are great at conveying various emotions, influencing feelings of thirst and hunger in your guests and affecting their attitudes towards the surroundings. Where the most popular colors for restaurant walls are shades of purple, blue, yellow, orange, green, brown, and red, it is crucial how you use them. Create a small book nook or shelf with a selection of books that customers can browse while waiting for their meals or enjoying their coffee. Additionally, having board games available for customers to play adds to the inviting atmosphere and encourages guests to stay longer.

A small restaurant can often feel cramped and cluttered, so it’s important to make use of every inch of space. Consider a layout that includes a few smaller tables, as opposed to a few large ones. This will help to make your restaurant feel more open and inviting. If you’re looking to open a small restaurant on a budget, there are a few design tips you can keep in mind to help you save money.

Or, if you prefer to keep it simple, you can just add individual tealights to each table. It’s a tiny touch that diners everywhere like for the instant intimate effect it conjures up. This is a small restaurant layout used in some European restaurants and is surprisingly effective in smaller spaces. Setting up the system is easy and quick, without expensive, cumbersome hardware required. It also allows the ability to scale up affordably and efficiently. Generally, One2 enables small restaurant owners to offer improved services with limited resources.

“You’ve got wipeable surfaces, sturdy ceramic dinner plates, succulents on the table that don’t require a lot,” says design historian Maile Pingel. These homes would inspire generations of the city’s designers, influencing both residential and commercial projects. Coast and Valley co-founders Stephanie Watanabe and Eric Hsu go a step further.

When it comes to restaurant design, it is easy to overlook the importance of seats. Let’s be honest, restaurant furniture is expensive, and sometimes you can’t afford 500 chairs at a time. The lights must be dim enough so your guests can see the internal glowing element. With the help of hanging bulbs, you can also adjust restaurant table spacing.

Then add a few interesting objects that match the overall color scheme and decor of your restaurant. To reduce any glare from overhead lighting, consider a textured mirror, a mirror with a sprayed-on color coating, or an antique mirror. The imperfections will add to the character of your restaurant and help create a softer look.

We ordered the Club Chicken and Steakburger – both sandwiches were very good (especially the chips on the side – which was a nice surprise). I requested ‘Medium’ for the hamburger – and it came out medium and juicy, with full of flavor. This is the true test of any kitchen – whether or not they can cook the hamburger per request – and the Packinghouse hit this one out of the park. The salad bar was also excellent, as well as the desert (molten lava cake with ice cream).

Some advocates believe that would be a positive result, ending the criminalization of sleeping in public and driving investments in other strategies to address homelessness such as permanent supportive housing. For starters, a ruling in favor of Grants Pass could prompt other cities to adopt a similar policy, said USC law professor Clare Pastore. The inset canned lighting in curve of ceiling is a perfect placement to not obstruct your view in the small bedroom. The bed seems comfy with ample throw pillows and you can pull the dark drapes shut at night to blackout all the light. The 19th century-style bed curtains behind this upholstered bed gives the room an air of elegance. I love the brass light sconces flanking the bed and the light blue tufted foot bench really compliments the design. The tray ceiling and moulding adds height to the room along with the ivory custom drapes. Love the touches of wood in the nightstand and dresser and all the light streaming inside.

This soft, warm grey sits beautifully with the Pure White™ No.1 woodwork creating a sleek bedroom décor and a versatile backdrop for the rest of the room,' say the team at Mylands. The various beige shades create a beautiful visual effect and without altering a beige backdrop, you can play around with plenty of modern overtones. Warm orange and yellow lights are better for beige rooms as they can provide a warm ambiance, whereas cool lights tend to wash out the color and make the room feel dull. Floral-themed wallpapers are always a great addition to a beige-themed space for that extra touch of classic, timeless green and beige combination.

Introducing these accent colors for beige through accessories like lampshades, cushions and throws is a quick way to cozy-up a bedroom and works particularly well in a rustic bedroom scheme. We will share numerous tweaks and small changes to give you beige color bedroom ideas. The advantage that you have here is that beige allows you to follow various styles ranging from romantic to traditional. If simple elegance is what you are seeking, try combining beige with rough wood with a brown and beige bedroom. Color blocking in interior spaces doesn’t always have to be related to the paint applied to your walls. Using furniture and décor items in contrasting colors against a beige bedroom can also be an excellent method for color blocking in your home.

A shaggy rug in a neutral geometric pattern is the perfect decor accent piece to provide a pretty design without adding too much color. The high pile height (1.25”), fringed tassel ends, and black and cream geometric abstract patterns make this carpet perfect for toning down the busyness of the room. Some people would say that diamonds can work for any occasion – including on the floor. This bohemian area rug lends a romantic nuance to a heavily beige bedroom, while the delightful diamond print pattern pleases the eye. When your room consists of many neutral beige elements, from the walls to the floor and even the furniture, you can end up with a monochromatic color palette. Textured walls have become increasingly popular and there are a number of limewash paint ideas to try if you want to add some depth to your painted walls.

It is your private sanctuary after all and you want to be safe and comfortable. You can mix and match different bedroom décor and furniture when you have beige as a backdrop which can be rich and deep or pale and soft. It is a lot more versatile when you compare it to the harshness of black or starkness of white. The shade with a brown undertone has a warm aspect that is inherently present, making it a beautiful neutral that is neither too stark as white nor too bland as cream. This helps to add slight variations of color to your bedrooms and provides a heightened sense of touch.

Rustic Wood End-of-Bed Bench

With its warm, earthy undertones, beige is a wonderful way to bring a soothing and restful feel to a space, so it's not a wonder it's a popular choice for bedrooms. A versatile shade with a spectrum stretching from creamy off-white to sandy hues, beige can be paired with a huge array of colors to create myriad looks from cool contemporary to classic country. Plus, as a neutral, it can make a brilliant backdrop for layering colorful furniture, prints and artwork as part of a more striking scheme. Are you just a little too in love with a simple and comforting palette of soft colors?

Experiment With The Gray tones

Black-toned ceiling lights can also be added within a beige bedroom as a contrasting element. This grand bedroom has traditional furniture and presents a sophisticated look. The only complaint I have is that there should be a TV console on wall to left of door, it’s too beautiful a space not to have completed it. The subtle touches of red add a sense of whimsy in this eclectic beige bedroom.

Play with symmetry to give a more relaxing feel

'Curtains are an opportunity to bring a layer of softness and coziness to every room. You can introduce color and pattern on a large scale, and from which you can choose a complimentary paint color for the walls and co-ordinating fabrics for other upholstery in the scheme. I like to use loose floaty linens for a relaxed look and for more formal settings I use silks and velvets,' says Penny Morrison.

On the opposing side of the spectrum, creamy shades of light beige can substitute for white but include warm undertones instead of sterile and stark cool white shades. The shade can expertly offset moldings and frames for artwork, or easily tie together contrasting hues such as gray, brown, and black, bringing balance to the room. Darker beige shades, think creamy cappuccino or crinkling paper bags, hold exciting depths that can add real personality to any room. These tones are relaxed yet leave space for sumptuous secondary colors, like navy or dark forest green, which adds comforting boldness to the room. Out of an incredible 332,061 bedrooms surveyed, beige sits comfortably at number three, being more popular than ten other colors, including black and a variety of colorful hues.

It is second fiddle only to brown and white, which are comparatively first and second place (see chart below). Charming primary bedroom filled with tufted bed and matching bench on its end along with a couch beneath the window. It includes a leather tufted chaise lounge near the floor to ceiling windows covered in a gray curtain.

The building sat empty until 1978 when it was purchased by Jay & Mary Matson to be converted to a restaurant, the Packinghouse Dining Company, which opened in 1979. The restaurant served as a successful example of adaptive reuse, bringing an outdated historic building to a new life. It was recognized by the National Trust for Historic Preservation in its “Main Street” program as a role model. Although such conversions are commonplace today, in the seventies this was a news feature. The Packinghouse received national attention with articles in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, etc. Because the original building was a large refrigerated walk-in cooler, it was lined with cork insulation on walls, ceiling and floors.

Will the Ultimate World Cruise Be Drama Free Without TikToker?

marc sebastian cruise

“Watching Marc Sebastian on the 9month royal cruise’s updates in the morning like it’s the paper,” one X user posted. “Generally, not a fan of reality shows … but wow am I riveted by Marc Sebastian’s TikToks aboard the Ultimate World Cruise,” said another. He’s also amassed a massive community of readers, quadrupling Atria’s TikTok following with the publicity he’s generated.

TikTok Turned a 9-Month World Cruise Into a Reality Show

Sebastian has even given out his cabin room number in some of the online arguments, encouraging people to bring their concerns to him in person. Lastly, he was shocked to find out that cruise ships fill their pools with seawater. However, it is quite common for ships to source pool water from the ocean through a process called reverse osmosis, which allows cruise lines to make their own fresh water at sea, which is safe for swimming and consumption. But the marketing stunt has, at the very least, brought the publisher quantifiable visibility. According to TikTok, the #atriabooks hashtag received 98,000 global views between December 12 and January 15, and #thelastone has received 4.8 million views since the Serenade left port. “We publish books for people who read many books a year, and people who read one book a year,” an Atria representative told PW in a statement.

Controversial TikToker No Longer On Board Ultimate World Cruise

First, and not surprisingly, the TikToker learned it was taboo to talk about the ill-fated Titanic at sea. Marc Sebastian explained that when he compared the length of Serenade of the Seas to that of Titanic during lunch, utensils dropped, waiters gasped, and the room went awkwardly silent. The TikToker posted that he was back on land on January 24, 2024, when the ship was docked in La Serena, Chile. As of January 26, Serenade of the Seas had sailed on to Peru, and will next be heading to Ecuador and Puerto Rico.

It was his idea to go on a cruise ship, sponsored by a book company, when he's not much of a cruiser or a reader, and bring in viewers and engagement through some good old fashion gossiping. A strategy he masterminded, sold to Atria, and successfully executed—his cruise ship videos have garnered over 47 million views so far. Soon after Royal Caribbean’s Serenade of the Seas set sail, on December 10, for a nine-month “ultimate world cruise” that will visit 65 countries and all seven continents, a large swath of TikTok users became obsessed with its voyage—and what drama might unfold onboard.

Marc and the passengers on the World Cruise are currently travelling through the treacherous waters of the Drake Passage which takes them between South America’s Cape Horn, Chile, Argentina and the South Shetland Islands as they head towards Antarctica. “I’ve been [living on a ship] for the last 12 years of my life,” Christine said in the video. Marc has also been going live, discussing the drama with TikToker users in detail. If I was on this cruise, you better believe I’d be there with a glass of savvy b at all times.

But many passengers say that even if people stop watching, creators on the cruise will still enjoy using their TikToks as a digital scrapbook of their vacation of a lifetime. He set sail on the Royal Caribbean cruise on Dec. 10 for one leg lasting 18 nights. Atria Books sponsored his trip after he mentioned wanting to experience the cruise on his Tiktok. His videos covering the trip have racked up over 600,000 views each on average, with some clips totaling over 2 million. Marc posted a video joking about wanting someone to send him on the cruise to stir up drama and get the “real tea” but then a brand actually said “let’s do it”. Atria Books, a publishing company, sent Marc onboard for 18 days to Antarctica and the Drakes Passage with a stack of books to create what would ultimately become the world’s first real time interactive sponsored brand trip/campaign.

They include the accounts of more than two dozen fast-emerging "cruise influencers" on board, as well as a growing handful of content creators across the U.S. and U.K. Who are cross-referencing, synthesizing and analyzing their videos in posts of their own. The viral nature of the nine-month world cruise has gained comparisons to the popularity of Bama Rush, the annual event where young women rushing sororities at the University of Alabama show off their daily outfits online, or the infamous Fyre Festival. The Ultimate World Cruise is a nine-month-long cruise that embarked on on Dec. 10 and is visiting all seven continents across 274 nights.

"I have to be honest. It’s difficult to shoot with him"

Interest in the book has jumped significantly, a spokesperson from Atria said, leading to even more hype for the author’s upcoming summer release. Sebastian says he didn’t make any money from the videos he posted on the ship. While he got a budget to book his travel to and from the ship and for his time on the ship, he didn’t monetize any of the 40 videos he posted on the boat, which accumulated over 55 million views. He's not a part of TikTok's Creativity Program Beta and says he didn’t want to monetize the videos because he feels that TikTok doesn’t push monetized videos in the same way they push non-monetized videos. The platform recommends videos to users based on several factors, including looking at their interests and interactions with others. He's kept a captive audience for two and a half weeks, in a media ecosystem that typically eats up and spits out passing fascinations of the public in 72 hours or less.

Meet the 9-Month Cruise's Star Villain or Hero, Depending on Who You Ask - Thrillist

Meet the 9-Month Cruise's Star Villain or Hero, Depending on Who You Ask.

He claims that everywhere you go, there’s music playing at all times which truthfully sounds like my own personal hellscape. “Apparently it seemed far-fetched to some that a Black woman (and family) could be a guest on the once-in-a-lifetime experience,” she wrote alongside the TikTok video below. I didn’t,” Sebastian said in a new clip posted Monday which showed him reciting a “list of things I’ve learned about cruising” in his room.

The TikToker also spoke on how he felt the wardrobe space was too small to fit nine months' worth of clothes, adding to his list of disappointments. However, his trip would last 18 nights rather than the full nine-month marathon. The 'never-before-offered' Ultimate World Cruise by Royal Caribbean set off for its 274-night journey around the globe on December 10, 2023, with a return date of September 10, 2024. On his sixth day on the cruise, Marc took us on a room tour of his $8,500 USD ocean room view. While many of the other tours had been fairly positive, Marc was pretty upfront.

As soon as Marc Sebastian, a 33-year-old content creator, heard about Royal Caribbean’s nine-month Ultimate World Cruise, which departed in January to travel the world, he knew he had to get on the ship. The TikTok star—who recently disembarked Royal Caribbean’s Ultimate World Cruise after an 18-day stint on its nine-month global tour—is about to answer a question about the experience when our interview is stopped by Whoopi Goldberg.

Every day, a new person posts videos from the ship or makes videos about what they saw someone else post. Rather than all-out brawls filmed from every conceivable angle, the rise of #CruiseTok has had the unexpected result of creating a floating collab house for creators onboard. TikTokers have hosted their own meetings, done collaborative TikTok Lives, and featured each other in their videos. And that doesn’t just include people who started on the cruise from the very beginning. After Sebastian’s viral video begging to be on the cruise, publishing company Atria Books funded an 18-day stay on the boat, during which Sebastian promised to get the tea on the “characters” onboard, promote Atria’s upcoming release, and paint himself as the reality show villain. Instead, while on the ship, Sebastian found himself teaching the newfound TikTokers how to keep their following going — and instead pivoted his drama content to exposing problems he had with the onboard amenities and the cruise industry at large.

They posted highlight reels of their excursions at ports throughout the Caribbean and South America, the first of hundreds of stops on their nine-month journey around all seven continents. Their videos flooded TikTok almost immediately, captivating viewers at home. He said he had interviewed Adita Larson, a fellow passenger on the cruise who has been thoroughly documenting her time aboard, including incidents such as flooding. "We hope seeing Marc, who is not normally a reader, pick up a book in real time, will inspire others to start reading too," they said.
